Play him, supply him, and he will score

It was always going to happen, wasn't it ....

30 minutes into the new season and Matt Green bangs one in.

Why does this need a thread?

His confidence here was gone and he was doing nothing, best thing for him was a move away .Hs gone, move on.

It depends what you mean by "need". As a regular participant on this forum, I was inclined to start this thread. If you don't think it has validity, please feel free to ignore it.

Just don't understand peoples obsession with ex players on here... Hes gone, of course he's going to score.. so what? If you're trying to say we should of kept him, thats up to the manager so its utterly pointless discussing it now.

Absolute garbage!! Waste of time! What did u think he was going to do? Go to Lincoln and score no goals? Did he not score 1st game of last season? Take the green tinted glasses off!!!

Why do we keep going on about green. He is now a Lincoln player. watching the gamr today, we have some excellent young talent up front, that just needs a little time to gel.

Ex players, ex managers, old badges, old kits some of our fans love the past and I don't understand why when the future looks so bright.

Last season we played him, supplied him and he rarely scored. So I don't see the point. Possibly he'll do better this season with Rhead as a partner, but we were never going to buy Rhead or anyone similar.

I actually agree with you all. I am not hankering back at all. On last season's form, Green had no place at MTFC. I wish him well at Lincoln.

But, to continue with the ironical content of my opening post, just watch him bang in a goal or two against us!!!

"supply him, and he will score" - he had plenty of great chances last season and missed most of them. Don't let the facts get in the way. He was very poor last season and I'm glad he was moved on.

Some folk just like to argue for the sake of it. If you don't want to talk about things related to Mansfield or league two why bother logging on.

I was also interested that he scored on his debut and think he will score more at Lincoln than he did for us last term. He obviously wasn't settled here and needed to move to progress again. At least he is wanted by his new fans and is knocking a few in for them. No doubt we will also comment following his next match whether he scores or not.

wasn't the point of getting them in early to give them time to gel?
why do we always seem to need more time than every other team to "gel"?
told you, what carolyn wants, carolyn gets.

I take an interest in all our former players. Many of us will take a close interest in Matt Green as we had hoped that once discarded, he would have now been replaced by someone better. So far, I do not think this has happened.

well obviously pre season helps with gelling. but then we have to adjust it to playing against competitive teams which takes time. we don't 'seem' to need more time than others to gel. it might take us 5-10 games to get us fully firing but when it clicks... oh boy hopefully we're in for some fun
