Hilton Group won't be happy when SAG reduce their capacity to 70%

If it gets near full they'll have to have a gate they can close forcing folk to walk half way round town to get to their car.

Will the customers be annoyed when the Gabbitas gate is closed at 4am on a Sunday morning and want to get back to back to the hotel?

what next a branch of harvey nics taking over the old bhs on west gate?

Just shows you what a Tory can do for the town.

That has nothing to do with anything.

Mansfield District Council don't even have a regeneration team so this proposal probably won't mean any works involving CPO's or anything like that. Might just be an agreement in principle at the moment.

Whoever is responsible ot certainly is an excellent step forwards. There is a hotel and conference centre at bramall lane too. Its great.

I can't imagine that scrote Meale would have been up for it had it benefited the football club

Arsene, your speaking out of your name.

The council do have a very good regeneration team, I know some of them.

Regenerated, Brownlow Rs
General Hospital site.
Woodhouse railway station area
Queens Head building near bus station.
New bus station.

There is a great deal more to come, who the hell do you think has been helping the football club, yes council regeneration team

Jobs for Mansfield if the deal goes through.

Hilton's are usually quite pricey to stay in aren't they?

Why would people pay top whack to stay in Mansfield? There's no real attractions anymore.

Was at ground on Weds and noticed a couple of chaps with theodolites at the back of QLE taking readings. I was going to mention it on here after I'd been to see Dunkirk (great film btw) but forgot. As I say there were only a couple of guys and don't know whether there's a link between them and Hilton.

"The hotel will be attached to back of the Quarry Lane Stand, also known as the South Stand."

WHAT??? Surrely it will go on the training pitch where there's loads of room.

Opportunity to build a superior club shop and fill in the corner ;)

Seems to me that the plan is to fill in a corner at the steps end of the QLE. Capacity for a 6-7 storey building in that corner ans the only thing they'd need to move would be Mezz's shed. Players and gaffers car park would need relocation probz.

If they have it on the training pitch will that not effect the 5 a side pitches which bring in a fair bit of revenue?

Definitely the right place to put the hotel behind that stand, keep the training pitches. What they do need to do now is extend the sandy pate bar, imagine the extra income from breakfasts/evening meals/drinks it could make. Do the extension right and local businesses will definitely use the hotel, could be a great idea. They must be thinking this and be a reason for allowing a hotel to be built?

They'll not put it on the training pitch. Imagine Giles and Felicity's face after booking the penthouse suite and opening the curtains in the morning to look out over.....

This is surely a good thing for the club and town. I was at the Mansfield2020 breakfast meeting yesterday where Ben Bradley mentioned the lack of hotels and trying to support moves to get one built somewhere. He came across very well and as someone motivated who wanted to help the town, red, blue or whatever colour makes no odds if they actually do positive things locally.

Not sure i get the comments about no hotels in Mansfield though... 281 Restaurant and Rooms on Nottingham Road, Travel Lodge at Ashfield Gateway (meters from the Mansfield / Ashfield border), also what about the one next to the Train Station, is that still up and running?

Surely the reason the town has gone so long without a major hotel chain moving in is because there isn't demand for it?

There's the Clifton Hotel and the Mansfield Hotel in the Nursery St area of the town.

I would say there is a huge demand for a good quality hotel in the town.

I would not recommend any to a business traveller

Sounds good. And not all Hiltons are pricy. They have a few different brands. Hampton by Hilton is about £40 a night,

I think a bit of clarification here from the club on the proposal is needed here. I've recently been involved with the new Hilton hotel built at Bristol Airport and let me assure you something along the same lines as that one is gonna need a footprint of both the stadium and the car park / training pitch, if they opt for a car park at the side of the building.
