One Call Car Insurance

Postby Foxy » Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:35 pm

Not strictly Stags related but can anyone explain why car insurance quotes vary so much please?

My cheapest quote with Hastings = £347 , One Call = £643, and Master Quote = £1367

Cheers

I have been with Hastings direct for years . I haggle with them and my premiums have either stayed the same or been lower than . Very satisfied with the company

May I ask why west country stag?

i'd love to be insured with One Call but I just go with the cheapest cos to me it's just another bill... but One Call are quoting me almost double

They can't be quoting everybody double though or they wouldn't have a business?

Maybe i'll start wearing a flat cap and put some tartan blankets over the back seats and see if that makes it any cheaper.

By reputation.

Would touch One Call Insurance with a barge poll, read their customer reviews.

To be fair most of the reviews i've ever read about insurance companies are written by people who aren't happy. I did it myself once with a company called IGO4 who were a complete nightmare to deal with from start to finish.
As I was talking to them on the phone about some other niggles they said "Are you still working as a Diver?" And I was like "A Diver lol? No i'm a Driver". They said "Oh riiiight... well in that case there'll be a fee to change that", and then charged me £100.

I threatened to cancel - they said there'd be a cancellation fee. I threatened em with the ombudsman - they said it's your mistake and you pay or we cancel the policy and you pay the cancellation fee. I even sent them a photo of me wearing a snorkel.

They gave me the cheapest quote out of 6 or 7 other companies , so hence " i'm happy " ...

To many people are fixated on price. The cheapest provider may not be up to scratch when it comes to:

A) Claims management
B) Handling Fees
C) Service charges
D) Excesses
E) Interest charges for paying by Direct Debit
F) Courtesy car provision
G) Charges for additional named drivers
H) No claims bonuses protection

Look at the whole package before grabbing the cheapest deal.

Agree Edders, I spent a whole extra tenner a year to go with someone I thought was reputable over a company I'd never heard of. I have been with one call before and had no problem but they did want an awful lot of information and documentation versus other potential insurers.

I did and they were the cheapest with the aforementioned legal, no claims protected etc, so I'm happy. If I need to claim then maybe my happiness could turn sour depending on how one call act on my behalf.
