Plot thickens. But, I still seriously doubt he'd drop down to league 2 again.

Not really. The article was posted at 05.30 on Thursday morning, meaning the interview with Ferguson took place on Wednesday. The article is also say Marquis is `expected' to travel to Scotland, it's certainly not saying he is training at St Andrews.
