I may have been mistaken but I thought i heard Evans say they were after another one of our players but we could not agree a fee.

Just a guess, but given SE was willing to let him go for the right fee and the number of central defenders we have, I would say it's Pearce.

if they are mainly ex stags players, which they are, then surely they will never do any better than stags did with the same players, which was not that well.

They'll be looking at Richie Sutton next.

Would be sad to see Pearce go, he has played very well for us and must be one of the most long serving players.

Yeah it's Pearce.

Would be a shame to see him go.

As much as i'd be disappointed to see Pearce go, is he good enough for a promotion chasing side? I've always thought he's probably a level below.

It is clearly a jokey comment regarding 'filling an XI with Stags player's.'

Why on earth would we sell Pearce to a rival? He's still one of our best players.

I suppose it's down to how they are managed.

Krystian Pearce was our best player last season.

Does Steve Evans like any players that were not signed by Steve Evans?

he was good enough last year wasn't he? If our attacking wasn't so poor last year we would've easily been in the play offs. Our defense was mostly solid as a rock

He was. Still has the odd lapse in concentration which worries me. I don't think he'll be first choice when the season starts.

I think Mirfin and Diamond would be our best pairing on paper but there's a plethora of players he could choose

I think (hope) he sticks with Bennett. He was superb last year and has all the attibutes needed.

Purely guess - but i expect Diamond and Mirfin to lack a bit of pace

I can't recall a single clanger last season. The fella was immaculate.

He wasn't perfect and at times was vulnerable 1 on 1. Eg Akinde

Having said that I am a fan - the bar has been raised.

I read they may lose Raggat so this may have legs. Can see Jack leaving tho

Maybe might play 3 at the back with Bennett in the middle covering the pace that the other two lack, but unlikely as we have very good LB/RB and also good wingers

How are we sure that the standard has improved?

Last season the centre of defence performed better than it has done in many years. We've signed some experienced and accomplished defenders, but who's to say that they'll be better than what we already had?

Personally, I wouldn't be writing off any of them. We are blessed with probably the strongest defence, with strength in depth, in the division.

Not writing anyone off. I'm a big fan of Pearce (and even bigger fan of Bennett). I can't ever remember having 5 centre backs with such quality.

Its nice to be able to debate who is the best if a very good bunch

The season before last Jack T looked good then the standard of player moved up and he fell behind.
The same will happen this season with certain players.
