Hi peeps, I'm an Inverness Caledonian Thistle fan here just trying to gauge your thoughts on Scott Shearer because Mick Weston reckons we could offer him a deal sometime in the next week?

Shakey Shearer, very very average keeper who is glued to his line if crosses come in and too slow if he has to come quickly for a through ball, gives you the jitters every time the ball is around the penalty area.
Steer clear if he's to be No 1, maybe ok for back up and a coaching role?

I think the above posters are being a tad unfair. Good shot stopper and has some really good games.
He doesn't come for crosses very well and I've never been really comfortable with his decision making but a steady average keeper. Not good enough for a league two promotion team (although he's done it in the past) but by no means the worst keeper we've had in recent (and past) years.
And like the above poster says, he has a good record with penalties.

If you think Alex Fisher, who scored for you yesterday, is good then Scott Shearer is brilliant.
We might win against Accrington next time, if we ever play them again.

Wish you luck if Scotty signs. He's not that bad as some have said on here but they do love to stick the boot in on selected players on here.
His main fault though is the fact he's loathe to leave his goal line for crosses into the box that a more confident and competent keeper would do to take the pressure off CB's.
He's had some excellent games for us in the shot stopping/peno saves stuff, but he has his flaws.
His age could well be why he's not as active in his box maybe.
Make a decent No2.

He's steady but is technically poor which leads to some handling errors.
His decision making is questionable too, which leads to conceding bad goals. The best example was Doncaster at home when he gave away a needless penalty.

He's been very average for us nut if he dodn't have his limitations he wouldn't be playing at our level.
Him & Jensen were both a vast improvement on the pair of clowns they replaced, so by no means the worst keeper we've had.
Sad to see Caley go down. I've always had a soft spot for them since we played you in a PSF.

Shearer was steady for us, we've had plenty far worse, and plenty better. Gave away a couple of penalties this season which were his fault, but generally was solid enough. Good shot stopper, tended not to come out for crosses as much as you would ideally like
Here are a few of my compilation videos of his best games for you:

Like many I think people have been a tad unfair of Scott, he's good at the things he's good at and poor at the things he's poor at... The hangup that most have is that he's poor with crosses and tends to stick to his line, when he does come it leads to confusion with the defence. So if you've got a defence tht is good in the air they should be able to cover for him!

Not the best keeper we've had, whenever he played I was nervous.
I can never remember him making a match winning save apart from the odd penalty, on average I would go as far as saying we dropped more points due to his errors rather than gained points due to his goal keeping.
He's one of those keepers who will rollock the defenders when a goal is conceded, even when it is blindingly obvious he should have done better.

Not the best keeper in the world but not the worst either.
A shot stopper on a good day, all too often rooted to his line and for a very big guy seems afraid of a physical clash.
By scottish standards, Gordon Attachment may take a very quick look with a view to the national team, says it all really.
