Best since Greenacre? Barker for me was a better player. He scored consistently in a poor team, captained us superbly. Greens had his chance over 2 seasons and just come up short.

29 goals in 2 seasons for Greeny.

I wouldn't say with them stats that he's not good enough for league two.

Green should get fixed up in League 2 or one of the big spenders in the conference.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

Fully agree, would've kept him with rose and got 2 class strikers in

'Green is too good for the Conference'......

But not good enough for league 2.
As he showed.

So what is his level?

I find it funny how a rumour (that's all it is) about us possibly being after Eoin Doyle, has been floating around on Facebook, and has been met with fans saying what a great signing it would be.

I'd have Greeny above Donkey Doyle any day of the week.

Green has been a legend but by his own standards lay season was not good enough. His finishing at times was not good.

If he had been here for one season no one would complain about his release. You can't live on reputation for ever

A MTFC great but last season was not good enough

Best since Greenacre?

Barker and Bouding bridge that gap for me.

He was awesome in the conference years though. When he scored that last minute winner at Lincoln I knew we were going to go up.

Refreshing that a thread started to compliment the service of Matt Green has turned in to yet another about how he's not all that.

If he was played as the main striker instead of the greedy Shaq and not on the bench or out on the wing he would have 20+ this season. Trouble is he only got the odd chance in a crap side pre Evans and still scored 12 I think. When you are sniffing around scraps you snatch at chances. I will say it again United fans think Andy Cole was fantastic but he had about 150 chances to score his 30+ goals. Let's just lay off Green, the guy had an horrific injury and still looked ok tbf. He is good enough for this league and I hope he proves it, maybe a manager will play him in the correct position!!!

What Matt Green hasn't done this year has played with a smile on his face. AM's defensive set up didn't help and I just don't think SE rates him at all. Greeny can still do a job at league 2 level, just hope it's not with our fluffy friends. Good luck Matt and thanks for all the great memories.

29 in 95 games...take away penalties and it equates to about 1 in 4....not a fantastic strike rate for a very highly paid striker....he has had his day with us....unfortunately he didn't hit the heights upon his return...he moves on and so do we....folk need to get over it and look forward

Bolton and Plymouth reported to be interested. We should of kept him as back up shouldn't we. Best of luck to him.

No we shouldn't - he didn't do it this year

I wish him luck but he's never going to be happy on the bench. Fact is in 2016/17 he didn't offer goals in the numbers required and missed chances with regularity

I would have been happy if he's stayed but not massively disappointed he went. Played a big part in the history of this club and that's how we should remember him

Good luck Matt wherever you end up

On face value i would have tended to agree, but if you look at Green vs Boulding's L2 stats they're practically identical:

Green: P86, G26
Boulding: P82, G27

Most would have Boudling here tomorrow if he was the right age, but his stats suggest he has little or nowt over Green
