Absolutely, The guy is a legend. I for one would have liked to have seen him remain, but maybe the wages doesnt quantify the product.

To me this show that JR is serious! to remove a fans favourite, there must be some irons in some fires

He's been a good servant to the Stags, four seasons with us & top scorer every season. I hope he does well where ever he ends up.

Short trip to Lincoln or County I suspect.

I'm expecting him to go to Lincoln and link up with Rheady again. He said in the "An Evening With..." before he signed two years ago that his favourite ever strike partner was big Matt Rhead. Given their cup run I expect the Imps will be able to offer him a decent wage.

From Matt greens Facebook.
Firstly I'd like to say thank you to everyone at Mansfield Town Football Club and its Fantastic supporters.
It's an emotional day but it's time for me to move forward as a player and look on to the next chapter and challenge in my life with a new club. I am hungrier than I have ever been to succeed in my career, I am determined to produce the football I have ever given and work harder than ever, it just wont be at MTFC. Great bunch of lads to have played and trained with at MTFC, an incredibly well run club and I wish everyone the greatest success in their future. Greeny ⚽

Echo the above.

Seem a little surprised if he's been released and no fee has been paid for him

Was it ever confirmed that we'd turned down an offer for Matt Green,
or was it just assumed it must have been Green?

Thank you Matt Green.

Given us some of the best memories i can remember as a Stags fan, the goals at Lincoln & Hereford will be ones that will live long in the memory. Thanks to him & his goals in the Conference, we're back in the Football League. Been a fantastic servent for us and always given his all.

It's a move that is best for us, and the player. For me, he's not looked completely happy all season (might be wrong), so a fresh start is probably what he needs. If he's in League 2, he'll get a fantastic reception from all of us (i'd hope...) whoever he plays for.

Good luck Greeny!!

Thanks to Greeny for some fantastic memories, like many have already said a Stags legend.

There's no doubt in my mind he would have fired us into the play-offs this season had he been encouraged to do so, still top scorer despite being isolated up front, played out on the left and publicly criticised for getting in good scoring positions but suffering a goal drought - it happens to everyone.

All the best where ever you end up - I've got a horrible feeling you will score against us, assuming a L1 team don't snap you up.

He's bound to. Don't all our ex-players score past us?

I nearly fell out of the seating stand when Greeny scored the winner at Edgar Street!!! One of the best feelings in a good 30+ years following the Stags!!

Absolute gentleman, what a classy way to leave our club. Will be ever indebted to Greeny for some amazing goals and our return to the Football League. Many clubs will be lining up to buy him, good luck Matt. Always a Stag!!
