Are we Liverpoo in disguise?

Postby Johnny Rotten » Thu Apr 20, 2017 1:51 pm

I read and hear a lot of "next years our year"/"there's always next season"

Please stop - We sound like Liverpoo fans

Ahead of preseason and that we are already looking forward to the proposed vast investment in the playing staff can I remind us all to not sound like Liverpoo fans proclaiming "next year will be our year".....

Agreed JR.

I for one think we will be crap, and finish below Chesterfield and County.

That's the spirit, eh...

I have not seen anyone say next year is our year. Most people say they optimistic and looking forward to new season

Cheers for totally taking it out of context eh, Eggy

I personally wouldn't mind finishing behind them as that'd still put us third!

May as well be, we played their 'anthem' prior to the FA cup game and the head of the stadium can be seen walking round with their colours on his scarf.

Tbh, whereas people should keep their hopes in check, to say we shouldn't say next year has the potential to be ours, or that we shouldn't have anything to look forward to is a nonsense.

SE is setting himself up to fail if he doesn't achieve and hasn't said anything other than we should be looking forward to a good season.

And lets be honest, when did we last have hopes like we have for next season like we do now.

What did I take out of context? You told people to stop being optimistic for next year, on the back of a much improved second half to the season and statements of intent from the manager and the board.

And if you think Chesterfield and County will be anywhere near the top of the table next season you're very much deluded.

You're completely right. Let's be optimistic for the first time in ever and we get a bore stating let's not bother.

It's got to be taken into context, but wow, next season we might not be raspberries and be alright, I can't wait, when did we have this last? Not in my time at Mansfield.

SE has set himself up with our expectations, if they dlnt materialise the only person accountable is him, not Mansfield fans

Well you used the word 'crap', I didn't and didn't suggest anything of the sort so there!

Optimism is absolutely fine

I didn't say Chesterfield and/or Counteh would be anywhere near the top I merely made a suggestion and a scenario whereby if we finished below them we'd still be promoted
