Coulthirst 7, after setting one up with a great cross, and scoring another with a cracking shot? He'll get more than that from me.

Poor first half including a couple of dreadful misses, poor pass to Rose when 2 on 1 in 2nd half. He had a good 2nd half overall but was poor in the 1st.

Kean 6
Benning 7
Bennett 8
Pearce 6
White 6.5 - sloppy on a few occasions.
MacDonald 6 - frustrating.
Byrom 7
Whiteman 7
Green 7.5 took his chance well, worked his socks off.
Coulthirst 8 great vision, well taken goal. Should have done better with the Rose throughball.
Rose 8.5 warrior like performance, just missing a goal although he missed a glorious chance.

For me Coulthirst was the main difference between the two teams, they simply couldn't cope with him.

I agree with Rob. 7 is enough (humble opinion, of course)

for me, it's about key moments in games. Coulthirst provided two of them for us to win the game. I don't agree that Coulthirst was poor in the 1st half, I think he was ok, though no more than that. Poor pass when Rose would have been through, but thanks to his intervention, we were 2-0 up and the game was already won. Just my opinion.

Kean 6 is a little harsh he was faultless even without shots to save his catching and positioning was perfect.

Coulthirst only did one thing wrong in first half when he ran through and was clearly 2 -3 yards offside but the lines man kept his flag down , he stopped running and i think he was amazed the flag was not up. worth a 8 for me and Kean did everything right on his comeback 7 for me

my player ratings now on, and I should have mentioned earlier I tweaked the report in a couple of places after going through the game again.

Interesting summary there Martin

Glad that Kean had got a 7...but...

As you reported that Coulthirst had a 'matchwinning performance' which I agree with to a degree. Had a great strike without rolling over the ball umpteen times (as is his wont} which paid dividends fortunately.

Overall his performance warranted a 6.5 imo

;)

my opinion that Coulthirst had a matchwinning performance was because we won the match due to scoring two goals, one of which Coulthirst created and the other he scored, both fine pieces of play. Quite a relief after 4 games without a goal. Football is a simple game, as Keith Curle told us about three times in his post match interview yesterday.

Up until he scored Shaq was getting a bit of stick from those around me, mainly for stopping running on to the through ball, even though the assistant ref was clearly waiting for him to touch the ball before putting the flag up.

For me he is a very good asset. His movement is very good and his pace worries defenders. He always gets a chance in every game he place, although his finishing is erratic. He's also not afraid to try his luck from distance. I wouldn't mind seeing him here next season if we don't manage to make League One.
