Must've been filling if you've not ate since.

Postby Sandy Pate Best Stag » Sun Mar 26, 2017 7:38 pm

We have just been to The Sandy Pate for a Mothers Day Dinner and I can't praise the food highly enough.

This was so far from quick pub food it was unbelievable. I've got to say I didn't fancy any of the starters and plumped for the haddock and spring onion scotch eggs just to say I'd had something. When it arrived it was absolutely superb and I think I would have eaten a dozen. I followed up with a pork Sunday roast dinner and every bit was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. The wife had sea bass which was again spot on. The puddings were also excellent and plentiful.

Three of us dined and we had 2 drinks each, throw in a glass of complimentary proseco for the mother and the whole lot came to less than £55. I know we couldn't get that standard or value anywhere else in the town and the staff just couldn't do enough for us. There was no waiting for the food either and I defy anyone to have got better quality or value on what is a very busy day for the catering trade.

We are quick to criticise so why not be quick to praise as well.

Well done everyone at Sandy's, you've done the club proud.

I go in every wednesday night for the poker. The scooter club and the classic car group go in as well. The bar is very busy and much food and alcohol is consumed on this night. There are not many pubs taking more over the bar on a wednesday night which is good for the club.If anyone fancies a friendly game of poker then you are most welcome. The game starts at 8pm.registration from 7-30pm.

I don't know how to play poker.

How about knock-out whist, rummy or old maid?

Don't know that one either. How about dominoes. Straight, Fives and Threes , or Maltese Cross.

SNAP is a great card game. I was once the best player on our street. Billy Tomkins always lost all his sweets.

Beige buffet!

Message for Paul Nyland - Mansfield has a large obesity problem and it's particularly problematic for children. Given how many children are starting to want to come to the matches we should be adressing this how we can.

As the club has a direct link to the community, I think that the club should provide free fruit for kids in the sandy pate bar and in the family section. Just apples bananas and satsumas. It would be a really easy gesture to make be a positive story to come out of the club and make a difference to kids.

The free fruit-shoots, although a nice gesture, are full of nasty sugars and bad for health!

Just a thought.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.
