Will be heading down to this one a week today, not been before. Anyone know what parking is like?

Out of town on the A12. Plenty of parking.

It's a soulless out of town nowheresville ground like glanford park or the ricoh arena.
There is one formidable adversary that Arsene Wenger has yet to defeat; it's Arsene Wenger's Coat.

Ground is soulless, but Colly is a nice place, worth a visit. Bet Belly has spent "time" there

Takes centuries to get to the place. Not a place I'll ever hanker to go back to. Went when they were still playing at Layer Rd.

I've never been to Colchester so it is a ground I would like to go to.

It was my first Stags away game, won 2-0, back in 1975.
Layer Road was a ground where i saw Mansfield play on 10 occasions, most of them night games.
Been to the new ground once. Had to catch a park and ride bus from Colchester North Station.
Will be there next week for a new ground with The Stags.

Same here tater but since I went I presume some main roads now go there.
Probably the worst ever journey to watch The Stags and to compound the misery Tony Adcock scored late on in a 1-0 defeat

Was that the Friday night game we lost 1-0, think we dominated the game and conceded in the 88th min, and to top it off it took 6hrs to get there with traffic, the joys of following the stags ;)

Think it was first game of 74/5 4th division Championship season,we won 2 0,I was on holiday with my parents in Norfolk but insisted on going,as I remember Layer Rd was blinking miles from rail station !

Hope the journey is worth it and we do not make it a hat trick of 0-0 's.

First away game of 75/76 season, earlier we had lost opening game at home to Shrewsbury.

That was my only time I have been to Layer Road.

I can remember that game Groundhoppingstag. I think it was our first away game in Division 3 after winning the Division 4 Championship. I was on a family camping holiday in Wales listening to the football results. "Colchester United 0"..... James Alexander's voice then goes higher and I start to do a lap of the campsite.

Yes must have been that season as I missed the game v Shrewsbury due to holiday,I must have complained that much that they delayed their return home until I'd returned from Colchester.

I must be losing the plot as I also thought we had come back from 2 0 down to defeat Exeter 3 2 at home around similar period, but on looking it up we didn't go 2 down.

Incidentally where were first two games of 74/5 season ?

Surprisingly, I have never spent time in the land of striped sunshine that is the MCTC. Only ever got locked up twice actually. Both times by the Snowdrops. :)
