I ask because when we were last at Wembley we couldn't play our loaned keeper.

That was in the Conference where contracts ended at the end of April, therefore the loan had ended, in the league they run until the end of June (usually ).

Not quite right, in the conference they were 93 day (maximum) 'emergency' loans where as now they are full or half season transfer window loans. The forest loan keeper could not play at Wembley because his 93 day loan ran out in the week running up to the final. If the final was a week earlier or we had signed him a week later he could have played.

That's set my mind at rest. We obviously looked a weaker side when we played the cup game a couple of weeks ago.

What a remarkable run of results this is from Exeter:

If they carry on like this then 3rd place is looking a bit far off.
i would prefer not to.

They've got Plymouth next, who they are chasing and who are also playing well - biggest Devon derby for years.

Our last three home games are so juicy:

Exeter

Luton

Pompey

Bloomin marvellous run in and should see us well over the 5,000 mark for each game if we are still in the thick of it by then.

It's exactly the run in we want. If we are within touching distance of automatic promotion by then, playing the team we are chasing puts it in our hands.

And the two before these are Plymouth and Carlisle. Add in away trips to Colchester and Wycombe these games will show if we are playoff material

February is a massive month - Hartlepool, Accy and Newport all at home with just the Grimsby game as the only one away. Should be looking at 10 points from this based on how things are currently going!

Probably looking at 12 points actually. The Gaffer certainly will be looking for 12 from 12.

Grimsby have lost their main threat up front. I assume that is the game you think we'll draw. Its perfectly winnable - more so than Cambridge and Barnet were.

Agreed, we should be - but football doesn't always work how you think it would.

Even if we went for a more conservative 8 points - we'd be on 51 points from 33 games. That would need us needing 19 points from 13 games to get to 70 - though i don't think that would be quite enough.

12 would leave us on 55 from 33 games - needing just 15 points or 5 wins from 13 games to get to 70.

I hope we can and I'll keep the faith, however I just think it will be a step too far this season.

Our early season form will come back to haunt us.

If 71 points is enough we would need 25 points from 16 games (1.56 points per game).

PLD.........W..........D.........L.........PTS
16.............8.........1.........7............25.
16.............7.........4.........5............25. :D
16.............6.........7..........3...........25.
16.............5........10.........1...........25.

Stags League form under Steve Evans is now automatic promotion form, PLD14, W8, D3, L3, PTS27, PPG1.92 over 46 games is 88 points.

To put it into perspective, we need 8 wins to make play offs, the cheats need 8 wins to stay in L1 :)

I'd suggest that the mere fact that we're actually in the play-offs probably means that we can make the play-offs.

This upturn in form means I think I'm now at the point where I'll be disappointed if we don't make the playoffs now.

If 71 points is enough we would need 24 points from 14 games (1.71 points per game).

PLD.........W..........D.........L.........PTS
14.............8.........0.........6............24.
14.............7.........3.........4............24. :D
14.............6.........6..........2...........24.
14.............5.........9..........0...........24.

Stags League form under Steve Evans is now automatic promotion form, PLD16, W8, D4, L4, PTS28, PPG1.75 over 46 games is 80.5 points.
