Imagine play offs will be between 9th and 16th May.

L1 playoff final the weekend before the L2 and Championship finals. They normally do all 3 in one weekend dont they?

On about leg 1 & leg 2 dates. Final is 28th.

If 71 points is enough we would need 31 points from 18 games (1.7 points per game, which over a season is automatic promotion form).

PLD.........W..........D.........L.........PTS
18............10.........1.........7...........31.
18.............9.........4.........5............31. :D
18.............8.........7..........3...........31.
18.............7........10.........1...........31.

Stags League form under Steve Evans is now automatic promotion form, PLD12, W6, D3, L3, PTS21, PPG1.75 over 46 games is 81 points.

If 71 points is enough we would need 28 points from 17 games (1.65 points per game).

PLD.........W..........D.........L.........PTS
17.............9.........1.........7............28.
17.............8.........4.........5............28. :D
17.............7.........7..........3...........28.
17.............6........10.........1...........28.

Stags League form under Steve Evans is now automatic promotion form, PLD13, W7, D3, L3, PTS24, PPG1.85 over 46 games is 85 points.

We need one of the following combos to get the magic 71

9 wins 1 draw
8 wins 4 draws
7 wins 7 draws
6 wins 10 draws
We think the same things at the same time
We just can't do anything about it

I am more interested in closing down third place now, Evans himself said that had already gone, I don't think it has and I don't for one second believe he truly thinks it has.

We could well go on steamroll anyone we come up against right now and all those teams above us will already have half an eye on our results. Who at this level wants to come up against a Steve Evans' side firing on all cylinders??

It's blooming great to be a Stags supporter right now.

We need to beat the teams we should be beating and then the real test is when we come up against pompey and wycombe and luton etc.

I think we can do it, Evans knows what he's doing

Our run in at the end of our season sees some big big games against play off contenders. That will define the play off charge. Doing well for it so far though.

I thought if we could get something at Cambridge there would be a chance.

I thought like many stags fans against orient "oh crap there's a ticket offer on, we'll bugger this up"

I thought if we could get a point against Barnet and akinde I'd be delighted.

Yet we won all 3. Here we are.

Yes we can

It has gone already, unfortunately.

If Carlise continue at there current rate, they'll end up on 82 points. Meaning we need 41 from our last 17 games. 13 wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats. Seems very unlikely.

I think our poor December cost us any real chance of the top 3... 2 points from 12 was a poor return. If we had gained another 4/5 points then maybe it would have been on but i fear its a stretch too far now.

Playoffs should be doable if we can keep some kind of form going.

Anything is possible if you try hard enough

3rd place is possible but I think we will finish 4th or 5th

I don't think 3rd place has gone at all.

I think Carlisle will drop away, their current form is not good, you cant count yesterdays win as it was against Orient :D They lost Charlie Wyke in the window which is a massive loss to them.

If you take them out of the equation we are only 5 points off 3rd :D

ok my reasoning might not be bullet-proof but i think we can do it.

Bet 365 have got us at 40/1 to finish top3, I'll have a bit of that!
i would prefer not to.

Carlisle have managed one win in 2017 against the worst team in the league. Isn't choking at the end of the season Curle's MO?

Don't think Carlisle are the team to chase for third place. Looks like Exeter will be in the top 3

Can't believe what's happened at Exeter. They wanted Tisdale sacked now they could go up.

We are only 5 points off Exeter. Of course we can do it.

If we get through to the play-offs (I hope that's not a hostage to fortune!), will our January loanees be eligible to play in any/all of the games?
I ask because when we were last at Wembley we couldn't play our loaned keeper.

That was in the Conference where contracts ended at the end of April, therefore the loan had ended, in the league they run until the end of June (usually ).

Not quite right, in the conference they were 93 day (maximum) 'emergency' loans where as now they are full or half season transfer window loans. The forest loan keeper could not play at Wembley because his 93 day loan ran out in the week running up to the final. If the final was a week earlier or we had signed him a week later he could have played.
