He got away with that out of pity. I suppose it depends on the amount. If his son chucked a couple of quid on it then that's just his guess, a couple of grand and it's suspicious.

I didn't know what the odds were or when. Maybe they proved with call records that the bet was placed before they contacted Allen. Although a passing comment from Carson that they'd love to have him prompted him to place the bet. The evidence points to a genuine bet so nothing the FA can do.

Apparently the ovine lovers have bid for Denton a striker from Alfreton don't know anything about him other than he's a plasterer so they might not be able to beat both wages with there own single wage

Went to see Alfy Saturday as at a loose end,Denton was rank he can hardly run, looks 100 but only 29 apparently, decent in the air but not a big lump hold it up type striker and not a patch on the ball control of Matt Rhead. That Ugwu must be really garbage hee hee.

Maybe getting the feelers out for when they get relegated again and go part time.

To be fair, I watched them bank holiday Monday and Denton played quite well.

Akinde played for Alfreton and he has done well.

Denton could be a good signing and do for them what Rhead did for us.

Like Rhead, Denton will have to leave a well paid job to become a full time footballer.

Whether Cheaterfield can come up with the money to tempt him could well be the sticking point.

Denton is not as good as Rhead. Rheady at least had some ability and a good footballing brain.

Denton is a big awkward customer who stands at 6'5"-6'6" maybe. His prime function is to win the ball in the air, no pace. Scott Garner (ex Stag) handled him really well on Sat giving away 8-9" in height. Alfreton rarely threatened all game.

If I was a spireite I'd be unhappy with the signing.

I think Scott Garner is a bit taller than 5'9"

We made some terrible signings in our first season, Chesterfield are just following the same process. Lets enjoy it!

I was watching the highlights on BT, just for a giggle like, and what on earth is that mascot they've got? A dormouse?

Chesterfield have signed Tom Denton. It looks like Martin Allen is going for a more direct style of play. Tom Denton did very well for Worksop Town when they beat us 4-1 in a pre-season friendly in July 2013.

Yes. He tends to follow manager, Billy Heath, around. He went from North Ferriby to Halifax to Alfreton Town.

Alex Jeannin. That first game away at Ebbsfleet with him putting in I think the worst performance I'd ever seen in a Stags shirt, byt quite some way, was a very sobering experience of how low we'd fallen.

Can't believe we didn't win with 12 men.
