there's lots of twists and turns to go yet.. a couple of weeks ago it looked unrealistic that we'd be the team to actually relegate them. Now there's the chance they'll be relegated before we even get there.

If they've already gone i suppose it would give us more chance of getting a 4k ticket allocation.

AFC Chesterfield would be just perfect.

In agreement here. Would love them to have to groundshare with Staveley Miners Welfare and battle their way back from such as the Central Midlands Lge.
They'd soon be playing and having a rivalry with Mansfield...

AFC Mansfield that is and gracing the Welfare ground at Forest Town.

On current form you would expect us to go up and them to go down but there is a long way to go yet .
The perfect season would for us to gain promoted and the dippers to get relegated.
A excellent season is for us to go up even if they don't go down .
A half decent season would for us to miss out on promotion and them to go down .

But there is also the scenario of us both doing this thread again next season .

Re: Dave Allen's Promises On Film

I've just seen this over there. Knowing what we know now it seems to me that Dodgy Dave knew exactly what he was upto from day one. He's bought them as a money laundering facility. He put money in at first to get some success and people onside so as not to make it too obvious. Just enough money & success - but he sure as hell didn't want to take them up to the Championship and made damn sure of that.

Listen on the video how he repeats that "there'll be lot's of different income streams, not just from football" and "we'll have income streams unlike any other football club"

Yes Dave but you didn't tell them that the income streams will be running downhill towards Napoleans Casino and into your bank account did you?

He's rinsed them good and proper. I don't like them dont get me wrong but Allen is a criminal imo. It's Haslam pt 2.

Not all of them did, some tried to help us. I don't want any lower league football club to go bust, that includes our rivals. If belmer had his wish, all our rivals would go bust, leaving what, a local derby v Stevenage?

Well that's not the case though is it? For whilst he may want to see the total demise of those from the dark side and the care homers, like myself, he also wants to see ourselves rise to higher standards. Therefore we would have new derby's. Florest instead of Clownty. Mutton molesters instead of Lamb limpits.

Throw in two visits to Sheffield, three to Birmingham (ish) and one to Leeds. His plan gets my vote.

Sounds exactly like they were saying not long ago tbh Big Yella. "mansfield aren't our rivals anymore cos we're in a higher league - sheffield united and wednesday are now" etc

They'll always be our rivals whether in this league, the one above, or in the East Midlands Counties League.

Let's not get too bertie big balls about it like they did.

The only reason it would be sad would be because we'd lose our derby with them. I don't care about their fans.

I don’t care about our derbies that much. They’re a good day out but we’ve not had many of them recently. I’d swap it happily. It’s almost like there’s sympathy for them on here. Get a grip people. Remember the way we felt when they ripped the urine ? I hope they do a Darlington.

The irony of you telling me to free my mind is killing me. Wishing a fellow lower league club go bust is hardly free thinking  Anyway, I'll miss derby day, nothing quite like it and if we go up, then I guess we'll all have to get up for a massive clash with, er, Burton.

What is your twisted love affair with the Sheep ? I don’t follow Stags for the rivalry with them. Why are you so hooked up on them ?

What’s not free thinking about wanting our enemies to suffer? Could you finesse that one out for me? What’s not free thinking in that ? You truly misunderstand rivalry. We should be wanting the worst for them, just like they did for us. Your weak attitude is embarrassing. You’re such a Blue Job.

There you go again, imagining things that aren’t there. I believe in 100pc in everything I am a passionate about. I want you lot down and I want you lot out. It’s not so hard to imagine. I remember how we felt and how you lot rubbed it in. Well, it is our turn now. Maybe it’s an Army thing, but this is a sporting war and the only thing that I care about is total victory.

If you follow that line to its logical conclusion then there'll only be you left at the end stood on a square foot of land, as more enemies (rivals) will come in to fill the vacancy that you'll also then want exterminating. York City is about what I'd want for them, but I'd still want to play them again.

Are you all still grinning? :D

I think that our visit in April is going to be one of the highlights of our recent history as we celebrate the situation at the top and bottom of the league, we should join in with the spireites when they chant their support of SJL as we must recognise he has done more to lift our mood than theirs.

Win the league with SJL ............ keep the (blind) faith, maybe next year

The beautiful irony of this is that if the season had started when Lester was appointed manager, they'd be in precisely the same position (23rd) right now whereas we would be one place higher in 3rd. After 10 games they were 23rd, now they're 23rd and if the season started when Lester was appointed they'd be 23rd. You can't argue with consistency. Consistently raspberry.

I don't recall gloating personally. I don't take it all that seriously in truth. We are small clubs in nearby that don't like to lose to the other. Anything else is just pointless bravado.

I have no love for Chesterfield, far from it, they are our rivals and as such dislike them, albeit in a slightly more grown up fashion than you  However, like us they have decent supporters and not for one second do I want them to lose their club, relegation, no problem, even successive relegations like York, no problem, but go bust - absolutely not.

I'm not getting Bertie big balls, I'm just talking about dreams and aspirations. Also they won't be our rivals if they no longer exist and I for one dream of it.

They’re our rivals and I want us to beat them at every opportunity

But for many of us they’re also our friends, family and neighbours who just happen to to like the blue team and not the amber team.

My kids go to school in the local area and I coach grassroots football with a club linked to their community trust.

If they go out of business it will have a massive knock on effect to the local economy and to the lads i’m trying to help love the game.

If they suffer a few years in te conference whilst we prosper then i’ll be able to brag about it whilst i teach their kids how to play the Mansfield way!
