I've got an awful feeling that we won't make the playoffs and the Spireites will escape the drop by an absolute last gasp miracle. Think Carlisle United and their goalkeeper (Jimmy Glass?).

I don't think we will make the playoffs.

As for Cheaterfield I think they will finish second bottom. Some of their fans are pinning their hopes on avoiding the drop if Sutton win the play offs but aren't allowed to be promoted because of their plastic pitch. I don't know the latest on that and how realistic it is.

Their loss to Grimsby by a controversial penalty decision suggests their luck may have finally run out.

The sheep with their failure yesterday now have the same amount of points as we had in 07/08 after 39 games (we'd drawn 0-0 at Clownty). Our next 5 games yielded 8points. 2 wins, 2 draws and one loss to almost save us with 2 games to go....then came flapper White and the Rotherham game

The sheep's run in isn't easy.

3 home
Us, Wycombe, Newport

4 away
Morecambe, Exeter, FGR and t'Bees

Two games against top 7 sides (everything to play for)

3 games against fellow strugglers (everything to play for).

Two games (one a local derby) against mid table sides.... unless Flitcroft can start winning.

The manager appears to be hopelessly out of his depth and quite clueless, the players seemingly can't be bothered.

As it is, and I hate saying it, we'll lose to them, we need some leadership both on and off the field.

I’m sure I saw somewhere recently (someone maybe posted on here) that Sutton have said they will put in a grass pitch if they go up.

yes, Sutton manager confirmed they will look for the money to replace their 3G pitch with grass to enable them to be promoted, should they be promoted

My mother in law lives ten minutes from West Leigh Park. Time and opportunity pending I'll pencil that fixture in, just for the glowing warm experience.

Technically only 6 points from 7 games. If the two above them dont gain anymore points.

If they don't get 6 or more points then they'll be down.

In their 131 league games since the start of season 2015/16 they have accumulated 124 points.
That's 0.94 points a game.
So they need to break a three year rot to get anywhere close.

9 points should perhaps save them I reckon.

Have just been over to our illustrious neighbors message board and some people seem to suggest that Dave Allens end game might be to have a part time football club, a casino, and a dog track.

Now this caught my interest because i think it would be great to have a local greyhound track to go to.

you're far from down yet - our set of bottling wasters will give you three points next week

I can't see 9 points being enough, but 12 would give a fighting chance. Local Derbies can throw up any result and you've got to beat FGR and Morecambe. One more after that and you could be there.

One thing that has struck me are the massive similarities between Chesterfield and Mansfield 2008. I've been on Bob's board, which really is a magnificent spectacle (would you thank them all for us). Some of the comments echo loudly from Stagsnet mid 2000s. One bit did stick out though was a lack of protest activity against Allen according to one poster - we were fighting ferociously against Haslam. Hasn't there been any - other than the odd grumble?

Well I've said it all along, I don't think you will go down, but next week one way or another will be a big deciding factor.
Pick points up before Sat and it will give you great momentum, lose and it will be more difficult . For us a performance like our second half yesterday for 90 minutes, we will win comfortably.
Unfortunately for us, we don't know which Mansfield will turn up. I don't think I've known a game between the sides with so much riding on it.

I do think however it is a game made for Ricky Miller..

Serious question, chambta. How do you see your chances of avoiding relegation?
