Hopefully . To say a few seasons back they were a few points off promotion to the Championship .
I think the Conference is very weak now . I hope Tranmere miss out if the Dippers go down . You only have to look at some of the teams pushing for the play offs to see how weak it now is . .
If they retain a few of the half decent players and bring in a few more then they will be up there .

Strongly disagree. We said exactly the same. Its hell in that league.

We hardly had enough players to put a team togetger against Ebbsfleet .
Bristol Rovers came straight back up . I didn't say they would get promoted , I said they could be up there . We had the likes of Grimsby , Lincoln , Wrexham , Stevenage , Crawley etc .
That league at the moment is very poor .

If Morcombe lose, they could still catch Morcombe. However, they would have to win their last 3 games all 3-0 and Morcombe would have to lose all their games 3-0 at the same time.

Just think if we got promoted this year and next we'd be in the Championship (Level 2)
If they get relegated again they'd be National League North (Level 6)

Then just let that sink in.

They’ll be bringing in players like Alex Jeannin and Paddy Gamble.

Those names still make me shudder.

Well Martin Shaw thought differently in Paddy’s home league debut.

Gamble 9 Faultless. Superb handling, caught every cross cleanly and made two excellent second half saves.

That would have been the 1-0 win over Histon, first home game of the season, and first home game post-Haslam. Gamble was brilliant. He rather went downhill after that unfortunately.

You assume their players will stay? They will be off like a shot. In addition there are no easy teams in that hell as we found out,

.....which is why Tranmere, Leyton Orient, Hartlepool, Wrexham, Torquay etc are running away with it and why York City, Kiddy and Stockport County find themselves in Conference North.

The National League is and always will be a very tough league and takes some blooming winning. Chesterfield are in for a massive shock. They need to appoint a manager who knows the league.

PC got us up because he spent lots of money, they haven’t got it. He’s shown what he’s like with no money with 2 of his teams in the bottom 4 of the conference (his latest club relegated) & another one only came out of the bottom 4 last night (with the team he put together last July)

Can't see them getting out of there sharpish on a "Less than £1m budget" unless they employ a miracle worker.

They've got a squad of 35 players, according to AC. One wonders why they can't put out a competative side. They are in a worst mess than I thought.

Interesting interview and shows how deep they are in the smelly stuff.

My main question is 'who is the player with the release clause of a free transfer if the team are relegated'. If that is Dennis I can see him getting a big signing on fee from a rival club.

I would think it is more likely to be somebody who came from a higher division that has a release clause - probably O'Grady or Dodds.

Personally, I find it astonishing that a member of their board is talking openly about plans for next season in the Conference when they stil have a mathematical chance of survival.
Obviously these discussions need to have taken place behind closed doors to ensure everything is in place if and when it does happen, but publically stating it is surely going to undermine the morale of the players and fans when what they need is positivity ?

Also interesting that a number of their fans on Bob's Board seem to think that a £1m playing budget will be top 7 or 8 at that level. Think they have a few shocks stil to co me !!

Agree they do not know the Conference its orrible and when they get away fans arriving in an a small bus like I recall when Ebbsfleet came with 36 supporters it will bring it home to them.

You would have thought teams like Tranmere and Wrexham would have been back before now.

However, the marker will be that they will be back and maybe bigger and stronger than before at some stage in the future.

They have absolutely no concept whatsoever of what awaits them.

Delusion level 11

£1.5m reduction in budget and "going for promotion, we don't want to be in that league"

Unbelievable Jeff

An Alfreton fan last week told me that Salford City's playing budget is £35,000 per week and that is in Conference North
