ALFIE POTTER SIGNS FOR BILLERICAY
Billericay sign Football League talent Potter

BILLERICAY Town have completed the signing of former Football League professional Alfie Potter.
The winger makes the move to the AGP Arena having appeared 35 times for Mansfield Town last season.
But having been released by the club at the end of last season, the wide man - who has also played for Peterborough United, Oxford United and Northampton Town - has now moved to Essex.
And manager Harry Wheeler says the midfielder, who turned down offers from abroad, is a real coup for the club.
“I’m really pleased to sign Alfie,” said Wheeler. “I like covering all places with two quality players and now I have two left and two right sided midfielders in the squad.
“He is very intelligent and could be compared to a wide version of Sam Deering, although Sam can also play out wide.
“He comes off the line and is very much a League player, like Callum Kennedy. That is proven by the offers he had this summer so for us to get him really is something.”
But despite his sparkling CV, Wheeler says Potter is not guaranteed a place in the Town starting XI.
Wheeler added: “He scored a hat-trick last season (against Newport County) so ability wise he should be in the starting XI and if we get the best out of him I would expect him to be in there.
“But I have told him that he will have to fight for his shirt as we have a very good squad and one that should be very competitive this season.”
And Potter, 29, could make his debut for the club on Tuesday night after Wheeler confirmed he would be in the squad for the National League South clash against Concord Rangers.
