Wigan Athletic striker Omar Bogle put on transfer list

Wigan Athletic striker Omar Bogle has been placed on the transfer list.

Sky sources understand Latics boss Paul Cook doesn't believe the player fits into the style of football he wants to play in Sky Bet League One next season.

Bogle had been the top scorer in Sky Bet League 2 last season with 19 goals which led to a whole host of clubs wanting his signature. He then moved to the DW Stadium from Grimsby in the final hours of transfer deadline day in January.

The striker helped the Mariners gain promotion in the 2015/16 season, scoring a brace in the National League play-off final. Bogle, who celebrated his 24th birthday on Wednesday, was expected to feature in Saturday's friendly against his former side.

But, he announced on Twitter that he wouldn't be playing, despite what would have been a welcome return to Blundell Park to face his former club.

Ipswich, QPR and Barnsley have all expressed an interest in signing the player that Wigan value at £800k.

Midfielder Max Power has also told the club he wants to leave this summer. It is understood that he wants to play for a Championship side after being relegated with Wigan last season.

In the meantime, both players have been instructed to train with the clubs academy players while they look to find new teams.
