The 23-year-old, who has made over 60 games in League One for Oldham Athletic, played 11 times for Tranmere Rovers last season.
After putting pen to paper, he told mansfieldtown.net: “I have met with a few teams in the close season but as soon as I knew Mansfield were interested, and then having spoken to Paul (Cox), it was a ‘no brainer’ to sign. He laid out his plans to me and I want to be a part of it here.
“I want to do well for the club. The team has just won the Conference National, which isn’t an easy league to win. So there are a good group of players here already and I think we could do well next season.”
His contract will commence on 01 July 2013

The 23-year-old left back became Paul Cox’s second new signing of the close season yesterday after signing on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers.
The ex-Oldham Athletic player turned down other clubs to join us, including sides in League One.
Speaking exclusively to mansfieldtown.net, Black said: “Mansfield are an ambitious club which is not looking to stand still. I want to be a part of that. I just want to play football, I’m desperate to play. I see this as a new challenge in my career.
"I see myself as a strong left back who likes to get forward. I want to do well for the club and add to the quality which we have already.”
STORY FROM 2012
Tranmere sign ex-Oldham full-back Paul Black on free transfer
5 July 2012
Tranmere Rovers have made their fifth summer signing, adding former Oldham full-back Paul Black to their squad.
The 22-year-old came through the youth system at Boundary Park and played 70 first-team games for the Latics before being released in May.
"He's a player we've had our eye on for a while," Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore told the club website.
"There will be strong competition between him and Zoumana Bakayogo for the left-back spot."
Moore continued: "He's quick, likes to get forward and is good on the ball.
"He's still young but he's got plenty of experience and is a good addition to the squad."
