Andy Todd's second-string produced a commanding display as they eased to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Bradford City at a windy One Call Stadium.

The Stags enjoyed plenty of possession, tormenting and toying with their youthful counterparts in the early exchanges, and deservedly went ahead on 15 minutes.

Nick Wright showed some fabulous footwork and combined with Ben Hutchinson, before Todd was fouled inside the area following George Pilkington's floated cross.

Wright sent Bantams shot-stopper Stuart Morrison the wrong way with the subsequent spot-kick, but it wasn't long until the West Yorkshire side drew level.

Midway through the first period, Connor Erangey's low pull-back from the left channel split the Stags defence, and allowed Scott Brown to fire home from the edge of the area.

Mansfield, however, remained on top as they dominated in both possession and also territorially and soon re-established their one goal advantage.

Chris Clements' free-kick was beautifully knocked down by Ryan Tafazolli, which allowed fellow centre-back Exodus Geohaghon to place his header beyond a full-stretch Morrison.

Striker Hutchinson also went close before the break, but the former Celtic star was replaced at half-time by youngster Ross Lamb.

Lamb produced a highly combative display as he battled bravely to win every ball, but it was the experienced Jamie Tolley who was the provider of our third goal.

His right-sided corner on 62 minutes was met by Tafazolli on the cusp of the six-yard box, who powered his header high into the top corner, which gave Morrison no chance.

The Stags were now in full control and spurned three chances in quick succession as Tolley, Todd and Wright were all denied by the impressive Bantams shot-stopper.

But it mattered little as Mansfield ultimately eased to a comfortable win.

Stags: Redmond; Sutton, Geohaghon, Tafazolli, Pilkington; Thompson; Todd, Clements, Tolley; Hutchinson (Lamb), Wright. Unused Subs: M.Jones, Hopkins, Simpson

Stags In Control as Bantams are beaten Again

Ryan Tafazolli put in a controlled display at the heart of Mansfield's defence this afternoon as Andy Todd's Reserve team added another three points to their tally, beating
Bradford City 3-1 at the One Call Stadium.
It's the second time this term that Stags second string have beaten their Bradford counterparts, back in October a rampant performance in the Division Two fixture saw Stags
run out comfortable 7-0 winners. It was a little more close run this time, however it was
controlled, defenders Exodus Geohaghon and Ryan Tafazolli netting either strike of the
break and adding to Nick Wright's opener from the spot which was cancelled out by Scott
Brown.
The Stags began well and had opportunity to open the scoring inside the opening two minutes as Ben Hutchinson's right sided cross picked
out Todd, the player coaches effort deflecting away off the legs of Jack Stockdill. A minute later Todd and Hutchinson were involved once
again as Chris Clements picked out the former with an excellent long range pass to the left hand side. Hutchinson was then fed into space by
Todd but saw his path blocked by Ross Hiza before the front man could pull the trigger.
Hutchinson and Todd both registered further efforts before Stags' opener on 14 minutes, Nick Wright, would scored a treble the last time the
sides met, converting a penalty beyond Stuart Morrision after Todd was tripped six yards from goal. Ten minutes later Bradford levelled in
style as Stags failed to clear there lines following an attack down the left hand side, Forrayah Bass cutting the ball inside for Scott Brown
whose driven effort proved too much for Shane Redmond in the Stags goal.
Despite being pegged back, Mansfield continued to impress and on the half hour mark swept the ball well across park, Hutchinson and Todd
again linking up down the left hand side. Todd's pacey cross had the visitors stretched but Nick Wright missed timed his run and failed to
connect with the teasing ball. Exodus Geohaghon the restored Mansfield's lead three minutes later seconds after Hutchinson dragged an
effort wide - The giant Stags defender headed home from close range following Chris Clements' deep free kick.
After the break Stags added to their lead on the hour mark as Geohaghon's defensive partner got in on the act, thumping in a header from
Jamie Tolley's pinpoint corner. Stags had further efforts to add to their lead through Tolley, Thompson and Wright—however Stuart Morrision
kept out the Stags attack and time soon ran out, the full time whistle sealing three points for Todd's men, overseen on this occasion by
Richard Cooper.
