The Stags midfielder began the match and played for 78 minutes as England found themselves very much second best to a strong home side who are set to play in the London Olympics. Russia's opening goal came in bizarre circumstances halfway through the first period as goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge's clearance was deflected into an empty net. The hosts then doubled their advantage just before the interval directly from a wide free-kick. They added a third early in the second-half and netted a late penalty to put the game well beyond their opponent's grasp. England C, who have one point from their two games so far, play their final group match in Belgium in September. --------------- |
