SSA help fund pitch covers

mansfieldtown.net, Mon Dec 20 2010

We are delighted to officially announce our latest partnership agreement with supporters' group the Stags Supporters Association.

Recently we have taken delivery of brand new pitch covers which have been financed between us and the SSA on a 50/50 basis. The SSA has donated over £3,000 towards the cost of this much needed pitch protection which also means that for the first time ever we are in the possession of our own covers.

Chief Executive Officer Steve Barker said: "Once again our loyal fans have dug deep in their pockets to support the club.

"This is a massive help to us and will prove vital both this year and in the seasons ahead to protecting the pitch from freezing temperatures."

SSA Chairman Dean Foulkes added: "SSA are very proud to be able to help our club with the costs of these covers and thanks goes out to the hundreds of brilliant SSA members whose contributions have enabled SSA to finance this latest donation.

"Hopefully the new covers will help save the club considerable money over the winter with a better chance of getting games on and we all look forward to the covers saving Championship games in the future not just Non League ones!"

The covers have now been laid over the Field Mill playing surface in a bid to prevent our Boxing Day clash at home to Grimsby from being postponed.
