Russell to remain in caretaker charge of Stags for Crawley test
Evening Post, 16 Dec 2010

CARETAKER manager Duncan Russell will be in charge of Mansfield Town at Crawley tomorrow.

A decision to appoint a successor to David Holdsworth on a permanent basis has been delayed through a number of unforeseen factors.

Discussions took place between chairman John Radford and landlord Keith Haslam today in an effort to resolve the dispute over Field Mill.

It has required Radford's full attention and distracted from the important task of an appointment.

Russell led his side to a 5-0 win against Worksop on Tuesday night in the FA Trophy, following a win and a draw in the Blue Square Premier.

Now he will take charge of tomorrow night's game at Crawley, against Steve Evans' second-placed side.

A separate statement on the managerial vacancy added: “A decision is now overdue regarding the installation of somebody in the managerial role on a permanent basis after being delayed through a number of unforseen factors.
