We had hoped to unveil our new manager tomorrow, however, Duncan Russell was promised three games to take temporary charge of our first team. Our Chairman, John Radford, has vowed to keep this promise following the postponement of Saturday's match.

We hope to make a further announcement later this week.

Stags Set To Hand Russell The Reins

DUNCAN RUSSELL will be in charge of Mansfield Town for Tuesday night's FA Trophy tie with Worksop – and The Non-League Paper understands his position will be made permanent following the first round tie.

Chairman John Radford has delayed his announcement, planned for Tuesday via the local Press, to allow ex-MK Dons and Blackburn coach Russell the three caretaker matches he was promised.

The initial game scheduled for Ilkeston Town's New Manor Ground was postponed on Saturday, leaving Russell having bossed the Stags just twice since stepping up from No.2 when David Holdsworth was axed last month.

But sources close to the recruitment process have told The NLP Russell has already done enough in Radford's eyes, with four Blue Square Bet Premier points from a possible six, to beat ex-Doncaster boss Dave Penney and former York manager Martin Foyle to the post.
