Stags consider leaving Field Mill
AUDIO HERE ---> http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/mansfield_town/8193490.stm recorded 8 Aug 2009 Mansfield chairman Andy Perry says the club will leave Field Mill if they cannot reach an agreement to buy it before the lease expires. The Stags rent the ground from former chairman Keith Haslam, and although the deal still has nine years to run, they could opt out of the contract in 2013. But Perry told BBC Radio Nottingham's Matchday: "If we can't do a deal we'll move. But we'd love to still be here. "The history is here, the club's in the right place. It has lots going for it." Mansfield Town have played at Field Mill since 1922. But Perry said even though moving ground would be a massive wrench, they have to keep all their options open. "We're in negotiations with the current owner but if that breaks down we'll have plenty of time," he added. |
