Monday's match against Ilkeston Town has been called off due to anticipated adverse weather conditions which will not allow the pitch to recover in time from today's match at home to Hartlepool United.

The pitch must be protected in time for Saturday's opening Blue Square Premier game against Crawley.

---------------------

Stags chairman Andy Perry told the Chad: "We wanted to give Mez (groundsman Michael Merriman) every chance of making sure that the pitch is playable for the start of the BSP season next Saturday."

"That is the most important thing and with more heavy rain on the way on Monday, we have decided to call off Monday's match now to give him time to prepare the pitch for next weekend.

"Because of the bad weather, we did not think there would be time to get the pitch right for Monday and then again for next Saturday.

"If we had had a hot and dry July there would have been no problem, but all this wet weather and a bad forecast for Monday means it is better not to play on Monday."
