CTFC - Posted 28th December 2008

In follow up to a media report on Sunday 28th December 2008, Crawley Town Football Club, for the sake clarity, can confirm they are in receipt of correspondance from The Football Conference in relation to the registration of one contracted player.

The player concerned was signed back in the summer months alongside a number of new additions. It has now, some five months later, come to light that the registration form for this individual was allegedly not received by The Football Conference office although his playing contract posted on the same day has been received and registered by The Football Association. Further, we do note that all other player registration forms posted on or around that date were received and registered, of course this creates even more mystery.

The matter is now being investigated thoroughly by our club secretary, Barry Munn who individually deals with all these matters as part of his job here at the football club. He is currently in dialogue with The Football Conference to seek further clarity.

We are however disappointed this procedure has been made public by a person allegedly close to The Football Conference board. Our secretary Barry Munn was assured by The Football Conference Office that this matter was being dealt with in a private and confidential manner, this is obviously not the case and disappoints us greatly.

No further comment will be made by Crawley Town Football Club until a full and clear understanding has been established. Barry Munn, responsible for all registrations and contracts will report to the board of directors at a meeting already scheduled for next week.
