SFU HITS £28,000 ... AND MORE DONATIONS NEEDED

THE newly-formed Stags Fans United (SFU) has reached £28,000 by today (Friday) in its appeal to raise £250,000 to buy a future share in running Mansfield Town Football Club. The supporters group hit the mark after just 10 days of fundraising. amid uncertainty about the club's future. 
Now it is urging fans to continue to donate money and also back other fundraising events. This includes three fans taking part in the Mansfield Half Marathon in July, while a sportsmans dinner is planned for 24th September at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex. Further details of fundraising events - and how fans can get involved - will be released later this month. The group is a merger of the club's four major fans groups - the Stags Supporters Association (SSA), Stags Fans For Change (SFFC), TEAM Mansfield (TM) and Ollerton Stags Supporters Club (OSSC). At a major public meeting on last week it launched its appeal, hoping to use money donated to buy a 'significant shareholding' in the Stags under any suitable new owners. Since then money has been handed over by generous fans, who are being asked to donate a minimum of £100 to join the TEAM Mansfield Trust (soon to be renamed the Stags Fans United Supporters Trust). Some have been sending in £100, but others have been donating even more, to the cause. Fans will receive one voting share in the Trust, regardless of how much they donate. Now the Trust is appealing for more fans to back their campaign - using the slogan 'If you care buy a share'. All money and legal transaction will take place through this. The trust board will be filled by current members of the TM Board (with some stepping down) and by electing representatives from the other supporters organisations (Stags Fans for Change, OSSC, SSA). This will be formalised at the AGM. --------------- |
