SHEFFIELD Wednesday youngster Sean McAllister will bolster Mansfield Town's injury-hit midfield at promotion favourites Peterborough Utd on Sunday (2pm).
Stags boss Billy Dearden spoke to Wednesday and the player last night and the 20-year-old has agreed to come on a month's loan from Saturday when loans are allowed again after the transfer window.

McAllister was the Owls' Young Player of the Year in April 2006, having joined the Wednesday academy from Bolton Wanderers and has made two first team starts.

"I have seen Sean a few times in the last 12 months," said Dearden. "He is one that Brian Laws wanted to get out on loan so this fits in with him getting experience and us being short in midfield.

"He is a very similar player to Stephen Dawson – his work rate is tremendous. He is a little ratter in midfield with an eye for goal.

"I think he will be a good addition to our squad and he is here for a month to start with.

"We are now missing three first choice midfield players and it has left a big gap."

However, McAllister's signing will help ease the situation and there was better news on two injured midfield players.

On-loan Lee Bullock will definitely be fit to play on Sunday after his tight thigh eased as will central defender Martin McIntosh, who took a nasty blow to the head last weekend.

And Stephen Dawson, who limped off after only five minutes of the midweek JPT game with Rotherham, could be back to face Chesterfield.

"Dawson is not as bad as first feared and he is now feeling much better," said Dearden.

"He came off straight away so a strain did not become a pull, which could have put him out five or six weeks, and he has been icing it up. He should be all right for the Chesterfield game."

However, defender Alex John-Baptiste continues to struggle with his back strain and no time is being put on his return just now.

A reshuffled Stags side lost 1-0 to Rotherham in midweek after Saturday's sparkling 4-2 success against Stockport.

Dearden said: "We need to pick ourselves up as this is a massive game at Peterborough.

"We have a hard run coming up with Peterborough, Chesterfield and Accrington but we can put a run together. If we play like we did in the first half last Saturday we can give anyone a game just now.

"At Peterborough Darren Ferguson has got them going and has put a good side together.

"I speak to him quite regularly and if he takes after his dad he will be a winner. And his chairman has put in a lot of money to help him."

STAGS boss Billy Dearden has moved into the transfer market again, as promised yesterday.
This morning he confirmed that Mansfield Town will be signing Sean McAllister on loan from Sheffield Wednesday for a month.

He will join on Saturday, the first available date after last Friday's transfer window closed, and go straight into the squad for Sunday's match at Peterborough (2pm).

The 20-year-old will act as cover for the depleted midfield at Field Mill, hit by suspension to summer signing Lee bell and injury to Stephen Dawson, Jonathan D'Laryea and loan signing Lee Bullock
