Paul Ince:
"It was a very good game and it's disappointing when we've worked so hard during the week, played well on the whole and got nothing for it.

"Obviously it's not great to lose in the last few minutes but I was very pleased with the performance. We should have been 3-0 up at half time.

"When you're ahead you can't just sit back on it and let the opposition come at you, but that's what we did in the end and got punished.

"We need points so we have to attack as much as we can, obviously this is just my first week so I think we can get better, stronger and more organised.

"I said to the lads before the game that the most important thing was to put in a good performance, whatever the result. If we can consistently do that then results will come.

"The penalty was one that you get given against you when you're bottom of the table. We didn't have the best of luck but Tippy should have scored in the first half and their keeper saved Heathy's shot without knowing anything about it. That's the way it is at the bottom of the table though and we have to fight our way out of it and not feel sorry for ourselves.

"We need to get some belief in this side and I think the fans appreciated today the players fighting for the cause. I honestly think that when we get that first win then you'll see a different side.

"I've been to three or four games before I took the job and the teams I've seen are nothing better than what we've got here. Mansfield got all the points today but they weren't a better side than us.

"We lost the ball up front twice and they went up the other end and scored which is something I'm really disappointed about but I've told them not to feel down because they played well today.

"Heathy's been fantastic in training, his finishing has been exemplary throughout the week.

"I can't play until January obviously and if the lads play like that until then there's no reason why I need to go out there."

Manager Peter Shirtliff said: "That's eight points from four games which is excellent by anyone's standards.
"I am pleased with players - they are working hard in games and in training and trying to do what I am instilling in them, and they have a great work ethic.
"It was very important psychologically to get our first away win and very important to get back to back wins. If we carry on playing with this spirit we could put a run together.
"It was an interesting game - that's for sure. I am still not sure why Macclesfield's first half effort was disallowed.
"Then they scored a freak goal from a cross which flew over Carl's head.
"We got back in the game with Giles Coke's goal and I was disappointed we didn't go on from there to finish them off.
"But they've gone 2-1 up and I think we showed great character to come back to win. I can't remember another game this season when we've scored so late.
"Richie has done well all season and I thought he was man of the match for us today. He caused problems for the defenders all afternoon and got his reward with those two goals."
