Larkin for Stags move
By Staff Reporter, Birmingham Post, Jul 23 2002

Colin Larkin is set to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers to join Mansfield Town.

The young striker, who spent most of last season on loan with Kidderminster Harriers, is the subject of a £135,000 offer from Mansfield. Dave Jones, the Wolves manager, will consider the offer today having returned from the club's tour of Portugal.

"I can confirm that we've received a bid for Colin," Jones said. "Clearly, we have to properly look into the matter and I shall deal with it when I return to my desk."

Mansfield manager Stuart Watkiss is looking for cover up-front after Chris Greenacre joined Stoke City on a Bosman transfer.

Larkin, aged 20, is 12 months into a three-year contract but feels that his opportunities are limited, with Dean Sturridge, Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller all arriving within the past year.

Former Harriers boss Jan Molby, now in charge at Hull, bid for £100,000 for him last month.
