BOSS IMPRESSED WITH STREET
15th July 2002 16:29

Stags on trial winger Kevin Street has drawn some early praise from boss Stuart Watkiss after his excellent display at Glapwell on Friday. Speaking to mansfieldtown.net the Stags boss said he had made a very encouraging start and added "If you've played 130 games for Crewe and you've come up through the ranks at Crewe then you can play football. Everyone knows that Dario (Gradi) likes people who've got good technique and can pass it and he proved in the 1st half that he can do that, it was very encouraging and we'll continue to have a close look at Kevin over the next week or so." Watkiss also added that the ball was in Street's court to prove he can earn a contract with the Stags "He'll make my job a lot easier if he does enough in that time to convince me he's the player who can do a job on the wing. The early signs are good and we'll have to see how he goes."

Street, 24, was used very little by Crewe last season and most of his appearances were as substitute. He had a short loan spell at Luton Town in November but only made 2 appearances before his return to Crewe. He was released by Alex at the end of the season.
