Stags 'flying' in training
CHAD website, 04 July 2005

MANSFIELD Town are 'flying' in training, according to Carlton Palmer.
The player-manager said two or three more faces were still likely to be added, but his only real concern was bringing in a goalkeeper.
"We have agreed a deal for a keeper and I am just waiting for a Premiership manager to get back off holiday midweek this week," he said.
"Otherwise I am quite happy with my squad. I am delighted with the way they have come back. Their attitude and fitness levels are fantastic and the atmosphere here is brilliant.
"I may still bring in another central defender and striker. But there is no rush.
"Des Walker is looking really good in training and I can also play as a central defender.
"On top of that we have Rhys Day, Alex John-Baptiste and Jake Buxton. So there is no panic, though if the right player comes along we could still do something."
Stags' first pre-season friendly at Sheffield FC, scheduled for Wednesday, 13th July, has been cancelled due to the unavailabilty of their ground.
But Palmer will not be looking for a replacement match. He said: "I do not like pre-season games as I don't believe in playing 'friendlies' and it is so easy to pick up injuries in them.
"We still have four good games against good sides and we are all geared up for 6th August."
Mansfield's first game now will be the visit of Derby County on Saturday, 16th July.
