Palmer has also spoken to Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle about 21-year-old midfielder Sammy Clingan, who has been on loan at Chesterfield.
mansfieldtown.net reports that Caretaker Carlton Palmer has been in the chase for a central midfield to alleviate the injury struck line up at Field Mill and has had his eyes firmly set on a central midfield player from Wolves who has recently finished a stint on loan at Chesterfield.

"There have been about six other clubs after him both in our division and the one above" he told the official website. "I am waiting on Glenn Hoddle now who has got him back from Chesterfield and is having a good look at him to decide if he would prefer to keep him there or not but he has promised that he will keep me informed but that is the type of midfield player that I am interested in and will keep abreast of the situation and keep looking for that type of player" he added.
