CURLE SET TO LEARN HIS FATE
Evening Post, MARK ROACH, 16 November 2004
Suspended Mansfield Town manager Keith Curle could learn his fate today.

Chairman Keith Haslam has concluded the club's internal inquiry, following allegations of bullying involving a trainee.

And, for the first time, he has dropped a strong hint that Carlton Palmer WILL be the new Stags boss if he decides to relieve Curle of his duties.

"I will look at the situation but he would be a strong candidate and high on my list," said Haslam.

"I am just dealing with my advisers and will then make a decision.

"I can understand supporters being frustrated because they are in the dark, but I don't want to say anything until it's been resolved. I've got to deal with it internally."

He said it was "a shame" fans booed Palmer during Saturday's FA Cup draw with Colchester United.

Haslam says Curle's assistant John Gannon has been suspended for "initial actions and a further issue on Friday".

He added that, if a new manager is appointed and a decision on a new assistant manager is required, that would be "down to the manager".
