Alex John-Baptiste has penned a new deal with Mansfield that will keep him at Field Mill until 2007.

The central defender has finalised the deal after verbally agreeing to the offer earlier in the week, and team-mate Kevin Pilkington is also expected to commit his future to the Stags within the next few days.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper is close to putting pen-to-paper on a 12-month extension to his current deal.

"With Kevin we're just dotting the i's and crossing the t's and everything should be sorted out next week," said a club spokesman
