YOUTHS BEATEN BY CHESTERFIELD
26th April 2004 21:30

Chesterfield Youth 6 Stags Youth 1
by John Street

Stags Youth Team were well beaten by table topping Chesterfield on Saturday morning.

The scoreline cannot be denied, however the Stags fielded only 2 second years, and included 3 Schoolboys in there starting line up, the balance were from there 1st years intake, the Spireites fielded a far older and more experienced side.

The first half was an equal battle going behind when Stags failed to clear a bouncing ball in the Penalty area, but got back into the game when a Curle cross was stabbed home by Zaccarrius.

The Spireites regained the lead before the break with the Stags defence not clearing their lines quickly enough.

The second half ran away from the Stags as the extra age and strength took its toll on
the Stags and the Spireites ran in 4 further goals.

Stags kept there spirits up however and had Heron booked for a challenge on the goalkeeper Jones was dismissed for a foul as last man, and Lloyd was lucky not to be
booked following a string of clattering tackles in the centre of midfield.

Stags overall were well beaten, but need not be to distraught as the spirit and endeavour
to play football was there, despite a stronger and more experienced opposition.
