By John Street 14 Feb 2004 Stags started off there Merit League campaign at Stockport on Saturday and nearly threw away a what could have been a winning start. Heron scored two goals to give the Stags what should have been a winning margin, but in a near collapse in the last fifteen minutes they were happy to come away with a point. Team : Coates, JonesD, Woods, Naylor, Holmes, Arnold, Parks, Trialist, Sleath, Zaccarius, Heron ------------ Young Hatters come from 2-0 down to rescue point from Stockport County Official Site Two goals in a minute late in the game saw County salvage a point at Manor Farm on Saturday morning. The Stags took the lead on 32 minutes through Dan Heron and when the same player scored again just before half time the visitors looked set for all three points. But the Young Hatters dominated the second half and reduced the deficit 8 minutes from time when Byrne scored from the spot after Danny Meadowcroft had been pushed in the box. And within a minute Byrne completed the comeback when he converted a Jamie Baguley cross to score his 11th goal of the season.
