Macclesfield Youth 0 Stags Youth 2
Report by John Street

Stags selected possibly their strongest team available for this visit into the Peak District on Saturday morning, and in ferrocious conditions gave a solid and confident performance.

In a swirling wind and the rain hammering down contiuosly during the game, Stags assumed early control, when a Lloyd cross eluded everyone in the box and Curle returned the ball into the box for Mitchell to stub home.

Stags looked solid at the back with the return of Buxton and Hurst on loans and John-Baptiste coming back from illness.

Stags retained the upper hand during the majority of of the match without securing a second goal until the last few minutes, when following a Hurst free-kick which rattled the crossbar, late substitute Manship stroked his free-kick into the bottom corner.

Overall in the conditions a good result for Stags and a solid performance.

Coates, Woods, JonesA, Buxton, Hurst, Lloyd, Parks, John-Baptiste, CurleT, Mitchell, Arnold
