Shrewsbury Youth 2 Stags Youth 1
Report from "the Shrew" sent to Stagsnet Stags Youth team fell to theIr first League defeat of the season at Lilleshall on Saturday, in what turned out to be an un-disciplined finish to a match the Stags should have won. Fielding 5 First Year Scholars the Stags took the game to the Shrews in the First Half and and took a lead when Mitchell seized on un-certainty in the home defence to score firing through the Goalkeepers legs. The Shrews had there Centre Forward dismissed for abusive language towards the Referee following a turned down penalty plea, and the game started to be a stop start affair with petty little battles ensuing around the pitch. Stags started the second half asleep and conceded an equaliser almost immediatley and then in an incident in the home Penalty Box a Shrew defender went to the ground holding his face and Jones was dismissed following discussions between the Referee and the Linesman. Stags then found themselves with their backs to the wall as the Home side pushed on, and got the winner through a deflected shot with 8 minutes remaining. Disapointing for the Stags as they had the game in the bag at half-time, and didn't need to take their part in a game which ended with 2 sent off and 5 bookings!
