Stags Youth Team fell to their first defeat of the season at the Bescott Stadium, Walsall
last night in the 2nd Round of the Midland Floodlit Cup.
Stags started and finished the game with 5 first year scholars, which is a very in-experienced side in this competition.
However in a tight and at times exciting encounter it seemed that the game was going to extra-time or a slip was going to decide the game.
Stags had put there all into the game without having any real finishing punch, and at the back always looked liable to let in a goal.
In the end it was a slip by one of the Stags Centre backs who allowed in Williams for a run direct on goal, to which the Saddlers striker slotted home, and this with only minutes left in the 90 sealed the game for the home side.
Stags at times played some quality passing football, however at other times tossed away possesion with some poor distribution.
