Mansfield remained unchanged for the 6th game in a row for the Kidderminster game.

The visitors took the lead on 6 minutes; a short corner from the right was headed in at the far post by Kidderminster’s Storer. 2 minutes later Kidderminster’s start to the game went from good to fantastic when Nick Wright was on the end of a through ball and he comfortably placed the ball low under Alan Marriott to double the lead after some shambolic defending from the Mansfield defence who hadn’t regrouped after the first goal.

Kidderminster kept up the pressure with Byrne forcing Marriott into making a save and Lee Vaughan having a good chance to add to Kiddy’s score. On 23 minutes the game was all but over when Lindon Meikle tripped Kidderminster striker Marc Williams in the box and the referee awarded the penalty. Vaughan stepped up to take it and went left and sent Marriott the wrong way to make it Stags 0-3 Kidderminster.

15 minutes before half time Paul Cox made a double change taking Anthony Howell and Lindon Meikle off to be replaced by Paul Bolland and Jon Worthington.

Half time Stags 0-3 Kidderminster

The second half kicked off and Mansfield were so close to being back in the game through Ross Dyer, whose powerful shot bounced off the crossbar and onto the line. Moments later Matty Green had a chance on goal saved by Kidderminster keeper Danny Lewis.

On 68 minutes Stags winger Louis Briscoe was sent off when he flew into a challenge with Kiddy’s Vaughan. The referee showed him a straight red.

In the final 20 minutes Mansfield had chances, through Ross Dyer and Paul Bolland who had a great effort somehow saved by Danny Lewis. There was time for one more effort on the Kiddy goal when Joe Kendrick found space in the box but his shot was again saved by the Kiddy shotstopper.

The full time whistle went and you can’t argue that scoreline. We didn’t turn up in the first 20 minutes and were punished for it, it will be interesting to see Paul Cox’s line up on Tuesday night after that performance and the red card of Briscoe meaning he will miss the games against Wrexham, Forest Green and Grimsby.

Man of the match: Adam Murray

Report by: Jake Allsop at Field Mill

Line Up:
Marriott: 6 Not at fault for any of the goals, made a decent save at 2-0, tipping Byrne’s effort around the post.
O’Neill: 6 Cleared one off the line right at the end.
Futcher: 5
Sutton: 5
Kendrick: 6 Had a good chance to grab a consolation, played one beautiful cross aswell which sadly no Stags player could get on the end of.
Briscoe 4 – Rightly sent off in my opinion, lunged in studs up.
Murray 7 – Didn’t stop all afternoon. Man of the match
Howell 5 – Not the best from Howell, hopefully much better on Tuesday night.
Meikle 6 – Subbed in the first half.
Green 6 – One good chance, not as lively as he usually is.
Dyer 6 – Very unlucky with the shot that hit the bar but missed another in the second half aswell.
Sub Line Up:
Worthington (for Howell, 32) 6 – Average
Bolland (for Meikle, 32) 6 – Looked impressive, great to have him fit again.
Subs not used: Redmond; Naylor; Connor.
Opposition Line Up:
Lewis; Vaughan; Mike Williams; Jones; Byrne; Wright; Sharpe; Medley (Marc Williams, 72); Gittings (Phelan, 82) Matt (Demetriou, 85); Storer. Subs not used: Lyness; Briscoe.
