Stags came into this game on the back of a thumping 4th round qualifying match again Altrincham. The Stags never looked like miles away from that performance, and we must be so grateful for the wonderful strike from Williams that we managed to get a point from the game. Good teams are always known for when they don’t play well they grind out results, well on that performance it is definitely one point gained rather than two points lost. Take nothing away from Histon, they were in the play offs last year and they came to our ground with a game plan to stop us from playing and to slow the game down and they did that very well. Next Saturday we have the distraction of the 1st round of the FA Cup, hopefully we will see a much better performance then. Come on Mansfield. Man of the Match: Luke Jones |

Line Up:

Marriott 7 – unlucky with the penalty, usual calm and composed self, two great saves.
Silk 5 – second best all game. Garner 7 – played well. Jones 8 – pick of the defence, won every tackle and header. Heckingbottom 6 – came off injured, did ok. Dobson 6 – couple of decent runs, should cross more rather than try to take on the extra man. Mills 5 – stupidly booked, just not good enough today. Hotchkiss 5 – off the pace, didn’t look match fit, will get better with more games. Williams 7 – goal of the season??, no need to say more. Perry 6 – never stopped battling, wrongly subbed in my opinion. Duffy 5 – didn't really do a lot, should have taken him off instead of Perry. |
